Well, it had to happen some day, we cannot go south forever, we must decide
it is time to turn around and start the long trip home. Larry's friend Sara sort
of decided this for us, she was flying to meet us in Puerto Vallarta for
Christmas. We had a few days to get there in time to meet her plane, but we had
unusual weather and the wind was from the south. We decided to take advantage of
the opportunity and leave Tenacatita and head back up the coast to Puerto
Vallarta. Of course the wind changed as soon as we got outside the bay and came
from the north. We had to motor the whole way. We got back up to Cabo
Corrientes, the cape at the mouth of Banderas Bay, and went around just in time
to see the sun rise over Yelapa.
We decided to stay in Nuevo Vallarta this time, at Paradise Village Resort
Marina. It is a full resort, pools, spa, lap pools, restaurants, shopping mall
next store, etc. We get full use of the facilities as residents of the
marina.

I decided three on the boat was cozier than I really wanted and decided to go
visit Guadalajara for Christmas. I had a great time. Guadalajara has the most
Spanish influence I had seen in Mexico yet. All of the downtown government
buildings were from the Spaniards 400 or 500 years ago. The central Cathedral
took over 150 years to finish building. I was surprised, the government building
is open for people to walk in and look around every day of the year. The entry
way stairs have an unreal mural, depicting the Mexican revolution. There is
another mural on the ceiling of the congress room.

I also went to the Mexican handicraft villages of Tonalan and Telaquepaque.
This is where most of the pottery and glass ware is produced. There were street
fairs and markets in both towns. I ended up not buying anything in either town,
but it was fun to look.
I am back in Puerto Vallarta now. We will stay here through the 1st, and then
plan the next steps in our return. I hope to get a chance to see some of the
places we rushed past on our way down.
