Sorry for the long load on this page, but I took way too many pictures and could not edit any more out because I had to keep them in for Annette. We finally had to leave paradise. We left Paradise Village, Puerto Vallarta, and Banderas Bay and started back north on our way to San Francisco. Our first stop was at Isla Isabela, an island 30 miles the mainland, halfway between Puerto Vallarta and Mazatlan. Isla Isabela is a wildlife refuge, mostly for birds, but the fish are also abundant. We met up with our friends on The Good Neighbor and anchored near them in the small anchorage. We hiked around the island. The pictures of the birds are from the different areas on the island, each area had a different kind of bird living there. You can click on any of the pictures to see it enlarged, and if you have a lot of time on your hands, you can follow the link on the bottom of the page for the slide show.
On the north end of the island, there were a lot of tide pools to explore. Crabs, sea urchins, fish, star fish, sand dollars, a baby ray, and a kind of mollusk that I had never seen before. It looked rather pre-historic with a reptilian skin around the edges. Some pools had many of them, some pools only one or two. There were lizards and iguanas all over also. Once they get big enough, they probably have nothing to be afraid of on the island. A few other shots from around the island.
